Caroline Coates established and launched Amalgamated Talent in 1982, an innovative marketing group to launch new British Fashion designers into the international arena. This organisation was sponsored by Barclays Bank, Marks & Spencer, Legal and General, Shell, The Wellcome Trust and others. Through Amalgamated Talent she met Helen Storey in 1984 with whom she worked as Managing Director of their company Coates and Storey until 1995 when the business closed.

Caroline has worked closely with Helen Storey since 1984 on all major business and artistic projects with particular interest in fund-raising, marketing, promotion and project development. She has been an advisor to the Department of Trade and Industry and British Fashion Council consulting on issues affecting the designer fashion industry. She has broad managerial experience, and has managed many large scale public and charitable projects. She also lectures in fashion business studies at a number of Universities.

She initiated and was the author of 'The Designer Fact File', produced and published in 1997 in conjunction with the Department of Trade and Industry and the British Fashion Council. It provides a detailed guide to setting up a fashion business. In Autumn 1998 she organised the first major Conference for the fashion industry focusing on the business issues.
